ClassroomScreen is a tool that has a ton of different "widgets" for teachers to display on the board... and it's free! With everything in one place, this tool can help you manage your classroom and student interactions. Lauren Koppers, a teacher in the Netherlands, created this tool for educators to organize their classrooms.
Included Widgets:
🖼️ Background - Use one of the backgrounds selected by ClassroomScreen or upload your own to customize your screen
☑️Poll - easily poll your students with multiple choice, smileys, or true/false questions. You have the option to do remote voting (where students join on their own device using a code) or buttons on the screen (students click on the buttons directly on the screen). You can also do a combination of remote and button voting. To learn more about polls, click here. 👈🏻
🙋🏻♀️Random Name - randomly choose a student name from a list. In the free version, you can save up to three lists of names. If you have a student absent, you can uncheck their name. You also have the option to remember chosen students, so they won't be picked again until everyone has been chosen.
📱QR Code - Create a QR code and project it so students can scan with their device.
🎤Sound level - measure the sound level in your classroom and choose how much sound is allowed with the slider. If the students get to loud, you can choose to have a bell ring to have them quiet down (this can be disabled if needed). You must have a microphone plugged in for this feature.
📸Image - search for or upload your own images (including gifs). You can also upload your bitmoji with this feature.
🔤Text - Insert text for messages or instructions. Add your agenda, directions for an activity, add links, etc.
🖌️Draw - Annotate your screen with this tool. Add lines and arrows, draw with a paintbrush or pencil, make circles, squares, and rectangles, and add different background patterns (graph paper, clock, lined paper, music notes, etc.). Click here to learn more about the drawing tool. 👈🏻
🔇Work symbols - Let students know what type of condition they must use to complete their task or assignment. Choose from silence, whisper, ask neighbors, and work together
🚦Traffic light - Use a traffic light for a variety of symbols, such as noise levels, understanding of a lesson, etc. Read more about how to use it here. 👈🏻
⏲️Timer - let students know how much time is left and set a sound for students to hear when time is up. You can also have the timer repeat if needed.
⏰Clock - Choose an analog clock or digital clock. With the clock, you set alarms for specific times.
📆Calendar - Show the date in two different ways (calendar or show today's date). The default is to show the calendar view, but if you decrease the width of the widget it will shift to today's date.
🎲Dice - roll dice and use it in different ways, with multiple options to choose from. Click here to see all of your options! 👈🏻
🖥️Embed - Embed different items, such as Google Slides, Canva designs, Vimeo, etc. Click here to learn more about embed options. 👈🏻
👯Group Maker - Use your list of names to create random groupings. Deselect students who are absent or you aren't grouping. Choose the number of groups and create them! You even have the option to change your group name and color. If you need to rearrange names, you can do that too. There are a lot of options you can do in group maker, so click here to read more about them. 👈🏻
⏱️Stopwatch - Use a stopwatch to measure time, which is great for timing groups or for experiments/labs that require specific times.
🎥Webcam - start a webcam in a small window. This could be used as a document camera.
📼Video - Play YouTube videos WITHOUT ads!
ClassroomScreen has a spotlight mode, which allows you to "spotlight" a specific widget, making it full-screen. All of the tools can be easily moved around and resized to fit on the screen. You can change the settings and adjust the colors of the widgets to fit whatever theme you want. You can even change the language from English to another language of your choice.
There are tons of different ways you can use ClassroomScreen in your classroom, with a daily agenda just one option! Randomly group students, introduce new vocabulary in another language, use the poll as an exit ticket, organize your photos and videos on one screen, teach probability with dice, and so on.
