Schoolytics: Quick Insights into Google Classroom Data

Before I explain what Schoolytics is, I want to start by saying it is completely FREE for teachers.

So, what is Schoolytics?

It is a Google Workspace for Education partner that takes your Google Classroom data and organizes it into quick and easy to read formats/reports. There are so many different reports teachers can quickly and easily view, including assignment completion, disengaged students, missing work, assignments to grade, grade distributions, and more.

Dashboard

When first signing into Schoolytics, you will get a dashboard that gives you a quick overview. You can adjust the time period, classes, and student groups (which can be created for specific groups of students). This is similar to what your dashboard would look like:

As shown on the dashboard, you have quick access to see assignments that have been completed and assignments that still need to be graded. You can also see disengaged students and students missing work, as well as other features quickly accessible. Use the sidebar on the left to filter down to other reports.

Features

A great feature accessible in Schoolytics is the progress report feature. You can quickly download progress reports as a PDF or to a Google doc for each student. The bulk download feature is a paid feature, but if you have an upcoming parent conference or just want to communicate with some students their progress this would be a great feature to use. To access the progress reports, click on the students tab and search for the student's name. Click on that student's name and you will have a button that appears to generate and download the progress report. An example of a student dashboard is listed below and you can see the green progress report button in the top right corner.

One other feature I wanted to point out is that Schoolytics allows you to quickly reuse posts from other classes and previous years within Google Classroom. While this feature is available in Google Classroom, it can take a while to scroll down and find the right assignment. Schoolytics makes this task much faster by through the use of the content library. Once you're in the content library, you can filter by particular courses and search for the assignment by using keywords. If you were looking for an assignment on multiplying and dividing decimals, you could type in decimals to see all assignments that fall under that title. Once you find the assignment, you can read your instructions, see the attachments, and use the "Add to Classroom" button. The content library also has videos from Khan Academy that can be utilized and added to your Google Classroom for tutorial videos for your students.

Content Library

To access the content library, use the 3 lines in the top left next to the Schoolytics logo and choose "Content Library." Use the sidebar on the left to filter your classes. Use the search bar to find assignments based on keywords.

If you are interested in playing around the features prior to signing up, Schoolytics has a great interactive demo that can be accessed here. If you're interested in signing up for a free teacher account, use this link.
